5 August 1875 --- 13 March 1934

Herbert Ora Cleveland was born to Rush and Almora Cleveland at Osage, Iowa, August 5, 1875. In very early childhood he came with his parents to Eagle Grove, where he has made his home for the greater part of the time since. In 1901 he was joined in marriage to Pearl C. Williams and to this union two children were born. Mabel who died in infancy, and George, who passed away at the age of thirteen.

Although he never affiliated with any church, he found peace and comfort in his last days in prayers which he requested. For twelve years Mr. Cleveland was employed at the Northwestern shops as machinist, which position he held until his health broke about four years ago. Since then, he has waged a losing fight for health, and for the past few months his sufferings have been intense and he had been bedfast and almost entirely helpless. However, his pain left him during the last few days of his life, and he passed away very peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, at 8:20 p. m., at his home on North Arthur street, at the age of 58 years, 7 months and 8 days.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his widow, one sister, Genevieve Ullrich, two brothers, Charles D. and Homer E., all of Fort Dodge, many other relatives and a host of friends. He was a faithful, loving husband and brother, a good neighbor, and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services were held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, March 16, at 2 p.m., conducted by A. M. Jones, assisted by Rev. Albert S. Kilbourn, and interment was in Rosehill cemetery. Among those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Long, Mrs. Fred Long, Howard Long, Rolly Long of Whitten, Mrs. Donald Weaver of Whitten, Mr. and Mrs. Emory Baker of Conrad, Mrs. Ullrich, Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Cleveland, Homer Cleveland, and Mrs. Olive Burnham, all of Ft. Dodge, Mr. Thos. Orr and sons, Homer and Walter, of Truman, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Henry Olson and family of Humboldt, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Orr and family of Boone, Homer Williams of Ft. Dodge, Henry Orr, Ft. Dodge. Mrs. Elmer Hanson of Clarion and Roy Lillibridge of Algona.
