MELINDA M. JENNINGS
Melinda Mary Erdman was born June 9, 1914, at Algona. She was the daughter of Herman and Marcella (Stuflick) Erdman. The family moved to the St. Benedict area and she attended school there. She then worked at home and helped with her brothers and sisters. She married Virgil Jennings, March 3, 1938, at Algona. They farmed in Kossuth County until moving into Algona in 1969. She did domestic work until ill health forced her retirement in 1985. She was a resident of the Kossuth County Care Facility for the past four years. She was a member of St. Cecelia's Catholic Church; Guild; Legion of Mary; the Charismatic prayer group; and a former member of Catholic Daughters of America.

Melinda Jennings, 76, Algona, died Wednesday, May 15, 1991, at Kossuth County Hospital in Algona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Art, Jerome, and Matt; and one sister, Leona Romer. She is survived by three sons, Gary, Rockford, Ill.; John H., Algona; and David, Trenton, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Merle (Myrna) Teeter, Algona; and Mrs. Marjorie Hansen, Mason City; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Floyd (Elizabeth) Erickson, Algona; Mrs. Valerian Hartl, Eagle Grove; and Mrs. Matt (Josephine) Hentges, Joy, Ill.

The Rite of Christian Burial for Melinda M. Jennings was celebrated by the Rev. Benjamin Jensen at 11:30 a.m., Friday, May 17, at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church, Algona. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Algona. The Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
