Barbara (Burt) Franzen, 69, Webster City, died Oct. 27, 2018 at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City after a courageous fight with ovarian cancer. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, Nov. 1 from 5-7 p.m. at MAC Life Church in Blairsburg. Services will be Friday, Nov. 2 at 11 a.m. at the church.

Barbara was born Sept. 15, 1949 in Clarion to Donald and Jean (McGrath) Burt. She grew up in the Rowan area and graduated from Belmond High School in 1967. Barbara worked various jobs during her life, her favorites being a housewife and florist/ decorator. She was involved in volunteering and an active member of YSS in Webster City and Ames. Barbara touched many lives with her exceptional talents as a florist, and especially a decorator. Few knew that during her brief time at UNI she was an art major, and her artistic talents were exemplary.

Barbara enjoyed traveling and spending time with her husband. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved and adored, and she loved and was loved by all her family and friends dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father Don; and life partner John Sterling. Her family includes her husband Lyndon Franzen; her mother Jean; daughters Nancy (Dorenkamp Anders) and husband Jeff Lawrence, and Kara (Dorenkamp) and husband Neal Van Dyke; son Mark and wife Melissa Dorenkamp; grandchildren Brody, Davis and Aidan Anders; Courtney, Brittney, Garrett, Joe, Carson, Carter, Kennedy and Tyree Lawrence; Emma and Will VanDyke; Gavin, Hudson and Declan Dorenkamp; and brothers Randy (Marcia) Burt, Steve Burt and Jeff Burt.
