Bessie Marr was born November 29, 1909 the daughter of James and Elisabeth Marr at Riceville. She received her education at Riceville and graduated from Riceville High School in 1927. She was united in marriage to George Franklin Womack of Riceville June 1, 1937, at Riceville. To this union a son, Edward, was born.

After receiving her normal training teachers certificate, Bessie taught at a Vincent country school, Riceville public school, and Sacred Heart Catholic school up until her retirement in 1969 at the age of 62 years. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Eagle Grove.

Bessie Womack died November 1, 1987, at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Earl, and one sister, Winifred. She is survived by her husband, George; one son, Edward and his wife, Sharon; one sister, Mrs. Steve (Florence) Kinney of Hemet, Calif.; four grandchildren, Debra, Keith, Kevin and Tara; and nieces and nephews.

A Rosary was held at 7:30 p.m. November 3, at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home. Services held November 4, 1987 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, with Father Wayne Droessler officiating. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove.
