George F. Womack was born on August 3, 1908, at Boone, Iowa, to Pearl and Mary (Wilden) Womack. He attended Elma Schools and graduated from Elma High School. On June 1, 1937, he was united in marriage to Bessie Marr at Riceville, Iowa. He started farming at an early age near Riceville and they continued farming until 1956 when he moved to Eagle Grove where he worked for Farmland Industries until he retired in 1973. He lived in Eagle Grove during his retirement and in 1994 he moved to the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove.

George F. Womack died on Monday. August 12, 1996, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion at the age of 88. Survivors include one son, Ed Womack and wife, Becky, of Clarion; 7 grandchildren; 3 great ­grandchildren; four sisters, Gladys Grobe, Charles City; Edna Slagle, Garner; Hazel Kapka, Thompson; and Opal Polen, Montezuma; and one brother, Jim Womack, Riceville. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bessie, on November 1, 1987, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 16, 1996, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic church in Eagle Grove with the Reverend Wayne Drossler officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. Willim Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
