SERVICES TODAY FOR ROY M. QUILL, FORMER PASTOR
Services for Roy M. Quill of Dallas, former pastor of Central Lutheran Church of Dallas, will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Quill died Tuesday at Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home, Clifton, Bosque County. He was 58. He was a native of Waco and attended Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. He did graduate studies at Southern Methodist University. Quill was pastor of a parish in Clarion, Iowa, for three years before moving to Dallas in 1957. He was pastor of Central Lutheran Church from 1957 until 1975, when he retired because of illness. He was instrumental in moving the church to its present location on Easton Road. Quill was chaplain of the Downtown Optimist Club and was on the Linz Award Committee. He was active in the PTA and served on the board of Clifton Lutheran Sunset Home.He is survived by his wife, Barbara Quill of Dallas; three sons, Jonathan, David and James Quill, all of Dallas; a daughter, Miriam Quill of Salt Lake City; a brother, David J. Quill of Sun City, Ariz.; a sister, Norma Fisher of Seguin, Guadalupe County; and a grandson.
