Mrs. Ira Riffle Dies In Hospital

Young Mother Is Victim of Heart Attack at Home

Clear Lake - Mrs. Ira A. Riffle, 30, died at a Mason City hospital at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon following a heart attack suffered at her home on the Ole Ashland Jr. farm earlier in the day. Mrs. Riffle had been dismissed from the hospital but a few days following the birth of twins July 24.

Mrs. Riffle, formerly Irene H. Carlson, daughter of Oscar E. Carlson, who lives southeast of Clear Lake, was born at Klemme Sept. 4, 1909. She was graduated from Klemme high school and had been employed in Mason City for some time before her marriage to Mr. Riffle Aug. 21, 1936.

Mrs. Riffle is survived by her husband, father and one of the twins. The other twin, Orvulla Ann, died at birth, and a son, Bruce Duane, died Dec. 9, 1937. Funeral arrangements are incomplete pending the arrival of Mr. Carlson who is on a trip to Canada but have been set tentatively at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church. The Rev Thomas B. Collins will conduct the service and burial will be at Clear Lake cemetery. The body is at Ward's funeral home.

Hold Rites For Young Mother

Mrs. Ira A. Riffle Survived by Baby Daughter, Husband

Clear Lake - Funeral services for Mrs. Ira A. Riffle, 30, who died of a heart attack Thursday afternoon, were held at the farm home of her father, Oscar E. Carlson, and the Methodist church Monday afternoon. The Rev. Thomas B. Collins, pastor, conducted the rites and burial was in Clear Lake cemetery. Ward's funeral home made the arrangements. Pallbearers were Clarence Patterson, Clarence Zook, J. B. Richardson, Walter Atkinson, Ralph Olinger and Frank Daker. Miss Alma Tokle, Miss Mildred Fuller and Mrs. Elmer Hansen arranged the flowers. Miss Darlene Rice and Mrs. A. R. Peterson, accompanied by Mrs. Harry Mason, sang "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," "Face to Face" and "Will the Circle be Broken?"

Irene Hattie Carlson was born Sept. 4, 1909, near Klemme and was graduated from Klemme high school in 1928. She was a member of the Methodist church. Aug. 21, 1936, she was married at Mason City to Mr. Riffle. The young persons made their home on the Ole Ashland Jr. farm south of Clear Lake.

Mrs. Riffle was preceded in death by her mother, who died when Irene was but 24 hours old, a son, Bruce Duane, who died Dec. 8, 1937, and a daughter, Orvulla Ann, one of a pair of twins. The latter died July 24, 1939. Besides her husband and father, Mrs. Riffle is survived by the second twin daughter, Karen Irene, and two brothers, Carl and Arthur.

Mr. Carlson, who was on a trip to Knob Hill and Rimby, Alberta, Canada, when his daughter died, arrived home Saturday evening, having driven 1,800 miles in 37 hours. He was visiting his sister and had been there but 10 hours when the message arrived and he started back. He was accompanied by his son, Carl, and Ed Schoenwetter and son Merle, of Klemme.
