Waterloo - Ethel Viola Steffen, 94, of Waterloo, died Friday, March 19, at Covenant Medical Center. She was born Feb. 10, 1910 in Klemme, daughter of John Agard and Hilma Arvidson Johnson. She married Truels William "T.W." Steffen Nov. 2, 1930, he died in 1992. Mrs. Steffen had been employed at Rath Packing Company for many years until retiring. Survived by a son, James J. (Lynda) Steffen of Denver, Iowa, and Texas. Two daughters, Jacqalea C. (Joseph) Ott of Waterloo and Judith M. (Larry) Evans of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by a grandson; two brothers, Fridolph and Harold Johnson; and three sisters, Bertha Johnson, Ruth Carson and Doris Back. Private family inurnment will take place at Fairview Cemetery at a later date. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories and Overton Family Service is in charge of arrangements.
