RITES HELD FOR LEWIS J. WERGELAND, 83

Funeral services for Lewis J. Wergeland, 83, Thor, who died Tuesday evening at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge were held Saturday, March 25, 1967 at 2 p.m. at the Thor Lutheran Church with the Rev. E. W. Quam officiating. Burial was in North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Born in Hardy, Mr. Wergeland moved to Thor at an early age and spent most of his lifetime farming in the Thor vicinity. He married Hannah Bergeland at Des Moines in 1913 and she survives. He moved into the town of Thor in 1950 upon retirement. Surviving besides his wife are three sons and two daughters, Lewis, Jr., Glenn, and Mrs. John Carter, all of Thor; also a son Carrold, Humboldt, and a daughter, Mrs. C. D. Brown, Melbourne, Fla., ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Miller, Hardy. Mr. Wergeland was a member of the Thor Lutheran church.
