Sudden death of Hazel McDermott
Mrs. Hazel McDermott, 69, died unexpectedly at her home Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 7, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Samuel Lutheran Church in charge of the pastor Orville Sanderson. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. McDermott is survived by three sons and one daughter, Lee Myers and James McDermott of Eagle Grove; Richard Myers, Washington, D. C.; and Mrs. Robert Ray of Fort Dodge. Other survivors are eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Edd Collmann, Manson; two brothers, Chet McLary, Fort Dodge; and Burl McLary, Barnum.

OBITUARY
Hazel Alvina McLary was born April 13, 1905, at Trevlac, Ind., the daughter of Frank and Rose Baughman McLary. She was educated in Trevlac and in Iowa schools. She was united in marriage to Robert Myers, and to this union three children were born: Lee Myers, Eagle Grove; Richard Myers, Washington, D.C.; and (Myris) Mrs. Robert Ray, Fort Dodge. She was united in marriage to John James McDermott in 1937, and to this union one son was born, James McDermott, Eagle Grove. Both Mr. Myers and Mr. McDermott have preceded her in death. Mrs. McDermott died suddenly at her home in Eagle Grove on Wednesday Aug. 7.

In addition to her four children, she is survived by two brothers: Chet McLary, Fort Dodge; and Burl McLary, Barnum. By one sister, Mrs. Edd Collmann, Manson; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. Mrs. McDermott was a member of the Samuel Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 10, at the Samuel Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Orville Sanderson officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove.
