Durwood Otto Voight was born on August 13, 1913 at Burt, Iowa, the son of Otto and Ida Keopke Voight. He stayed at the Glenwood Home in Glenwood, for a number of years before coming to Eagle Grove, Iowa to stay with his sister, Lila McVicker. In 1984, he moved to the Belmond Community Care Center in Belmond. Durwood Voight died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at the Hospice of Northern Iowa in Mason City at the age of 87. A private family service was held with burial in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. He is survived by his sister, Laura Burras, of Eagle Grove; and two brothers: Howard Voight, of Abilene, Texas; and Virgil Voight, of Chandler, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Ray and Earl; and four sisters, Helen McVitty, Rita Roosi, [Roussi], Lila McVicker, and Ann Baylie. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
