Burton 'Butch' Sherman of Goldfield, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2000, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des
Moines at the age of 74. Memorial services were held Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Goldfield. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield.

Butch Sherman worked many years for the Wright County Road Maintenance Department before retiring. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Goldfield and the American Legion. He also enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Obidiah and Kathryn 'Kitty' Sherman; three sisters, Helen, Iris, and Evelyn; and two brothers, Robert and Donald. He is survived by his wife, Arlene [Nelson], of Goldfield; two sons, Dennis, of Duluth, Minn.; and Richard, of Goldfield; a daughter, Karen (Mrs. Matt) Watkins, of Ankeny; and three grandchildren. The Cremation Society of Iowa in Des Moines was in charge of the arrangements.
