Leona Jean Tate of Clarion, was born on Nov. 18, 1940 to Arthur Anderson and Sylvia (Benson)
Anderson at Clarion. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from Clarion High School in 1958. On May 5, 1962 she married Luther Tate Jr. at the First Lutheran Church in Clarion. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and various ladies groups within the church, F.L.C.W., was a volunteer for the Wright County Hospice, and was taking continuing education credits toward food service supervisor certificate at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City.

Leona Jean Tate died Oct. 1, 2000, at the Israel Family Hospice Center in Ames at the age of 59.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bernard Anderson, and a sister, Patricia McFarland. She is survived by her husband, Luther, a daughter, Jeanette Tate, of Ames; a step-daughter, Diane (Mrs. Doug) Gerjets, of Roland; a granddaughter; four sisters, Lucille Bloxhan, Agnes Hendrickson, June Shaw, and Delores Reyna; and a brother, Gerald Anderson, of Mason City.

Services were held Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Clarion. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion with the Rev. Gary Boen officiating. Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of arrangements.
