Gregory Alan Harris was born on December 24, 1948 at Des Moines, Iowa to Loran and Gladys Butikofer Harris. He graduated from Saydel School District, Saylorville, Iowa in 1967 and attended Dunwoody Institute. He served his country in the army during Vietnam, 1970 to 1971. He moved to Eagle Grove in 1974 as plant manager for Dried Whey Inc., later called International Distributing. He was united in marriage to Mary Nelson in Fort Dodge on June 3, 1979. In August, 2000, he started working at Rotary Ann Home. Greg was active with the Eagle Grove Planning and Zoning Board of Adjustment, the Auxiliary Police, and Block Grant. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Gregory Alan Harris of Eagle Grove died Sunday, October 1, 2000, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames at the age of 51. Memorial services were held on Wednesday, October 4 at 4 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Revs. Paul and Susan Stone officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his father, Loran, and sister, Linda Harris in July 1999. He is survived by his wife Mary of Eagle Grove, son Lance and daughter Danielle at home; mother Gladys Harris of Des Moines, Iowa; sister Marjorie Harris of Des Moines, Iowa and other relatives and friends.
