Gertrude Jornille Roseland was born on November 28, 1909, the daughter of John and Larsina Falk Roseland, on a farm north of Eagle Grove, Iowa. She received her education in rural Eagle Grove and Eagle Grove High School. She was united in marriage to Floyd Pohlman of Eagle Grove on September 12, 1931, at the Lutheran parsonage in
Eagle Grove. The couple has lived in Eagle Grove since that time. Gertrude entered the Clarion Community Memorial Hospital, Clarion, Iowa, on November 30, 1992. She passed away there on December 13, 1992. She had attained the age of 83 years, and 15 days.

She leaves in passing her husband, Floyd; two sons: Roger of Rock Island, Illinois, and Roland of Webster City, Iowa; and one daughter, Jeanine (Mrs. Neal) Reichter of Goldfield, Iowa. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Gertrude was preceded, in death by her parents, five brothers: Julius, Elmer, Harold, Joe, and Bert; also preceding her in death were her three sisters: Christine Larson, Mabel Roseland, and Ellen Weeks. She was a member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Church Circle, and the Ladies Aid Society.

Funeral services for Gertrude Jornille Pohlman were held on Wednesday December 16, 1992 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove. The Reverend Lyle Peters officiated at the 1 p.m. services and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be designated to the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of services.
