Arthur John Roseland was born on August 28, 1913, the son of John and Anna Mehuse Thompson Roseland at Eagle Grove. He received his education in the Eagle Grove School System and graduated from Eagle Grove High School. He was united in marriage to Lila Adlene Anderson on November 27, 1938, at Eagle Grove. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. He enlisted into the United States Army Air Force and served during World War II as a glider pilot. He was employed as a farm laborer, railroader, postal worker, salesperson, and realtor. He was a life-time member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, was treasurer and past Sunday School teacher. He was also a past member of local organizations and the Eagle Grove Chamber of Commerce.

Arthur John Roseland died at his home on October 18, 1995, of an apparent heart attack. He had attained the age of 82 years, 1 month, and 20 days. Survivors include his wife, Lila of Eagle Grove; daughters, Joanne Bethell and her husband James of St. Cloud, Minn., Rogene Watson and her husband Michael of Rochester, Minn.; son, Dennis Roseland and his wife Janet of Decorah; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Sommers of Belmond. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 22, 1995, at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Reverend Lyle Peters officiating the 2:30 p.m. services. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa. Willim Funeral Home Ltd. of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
