Clarence J. Anderson, 88, of Thor, died Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 24, at the Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor. Clarence Johan Anderson was born November 15, 1915, the son of Andrew and Caroline (Wickre) Anderson on the family farm near Thor. He received his education at Thor and graduated from Thor High School. Following his education, he farmed with his father and brothers. He was united in marriage to Lucille DeWinter on May 31, 1941 at Bethany, Mo. They made their home on the Anderson farm where he farmed with his brother, Bert. Clarence and Lucille moved to Thor in 1990. He was a member of the Ullensvang Lutheran Church. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping, and in later years enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his wife, Lucille, of Thor; a son, Larry Anderson, and his wife, Mary, of Eagle Grove; a grandson, Mark Anderson, of Thor; and his sister-in-law, Donna Anderson, of Omaha, Neb. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Leonard and Selmer; sister, Almira Duea, and half-brothers, Omer and Bert Anderson. Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt was in charge of the arrangements.
