Helen Larson
July 4, 1843 ---- March 26, 1928

Helen Shirley was born in Torpen, Norway, Europe, July 4, 1843, of French ancestry on the father's side, and died in her home in this city, March 26, 1928, age 84 years, eight months and 22 days. In 1853 she came with her parents to the United States to Rock county. Wis., where she grew to womanhood among the early settlers. She is now the last of five brothers and three sisters to pass out from this life. On November 5, 1870 she was married to Torkel Larson. In 1871 Mr. and Mrs. Larson moved out to Pocahontas county, Iowa, where they purchased eighty acres of land and passed through the frontier days experiences. They were among the charter members of the Tollefsrud Lutheran church organized in 1878. In 1902 they retired to Eagle Grove where Mr. Larson died November 16, 1923. Mrs. Larson is now survived by her two sons and three daughters: Horace and Ira Larson, both of Pocahontas, Iowa; Mrs. Cora Hunter of Fonda; Mrs. Ella Keena of Eagle Grove and Mrs. Iva Olson of Webster City. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and by one great grandchild. Funeral services this Thursday afternoon, March 29, from the home at 1:30 and from the East Side Lutheran church at 2 o'clock. Burial in the Rose Hill cemetery.
