Newton W. Freeman, Jr., Goldfield, died at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 1984 at the age of 70. He had been a patient there for the past nine weeks. His body was donated to the Anatomy Department of the University of Iowa and there will be no funeral service. The Eyler-Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of the arrangements.
He was born on March 12, 1913 at Goldfield and was the son of Newton W. Freeman and Janet E. Matheson. He was raised and educated at Goldfield. In 1934 he was married to Fern Richardson at Des Moines. He was a conductor and brakeman for the Chicago Great Western Railroad until his retirement. Survivors are his wife, sons, Richard of Plattesburg, Mo. and James of Farmington, N.M.; a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Claudia) Ross of Des Moines; and eight grandchildren. His parents and one brother preceded him in death. Mr. Freeman was a member of the Goldfield United Methodist Church and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen
