Mabel Johanna Roseland, the daughter of John and Anna Malinda Olson [Roseland], was born on December 1, 1892, on a farm near Eagle Grove, Iowa. She attended the Wright County rural schools. When she was ten years old, her mother died and later, her father married Larsine Falk and they raised nine children together on the family farm. Mabel graduated from the Eagle Grove High School and later taught in the rural schools. She was employed by the Security Savings Bank for 27 years and then moved to Minneapolis, where she attended the Lutheran Bible Institute and was employed in Minneapolis until she retired. She had been a resident of the Camden Care Center in Minneapolis for the past 14 years. She was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She died early Friday morning, Jan. 20, 1984, at the Camden Care Center at the age of 91 years, one month and 20 days.

She is survived by a sister, Gertrude, Mrs. Floyd Pohlman of Eagle Grove; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and five brothers.

Funeral services for Miss Mabel J. Roseland, 91, of Minneapolis and formerly of Eagle Grove, were held on Monday, Jan. 23, 1984 at 11 a.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Schaedig, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church officiated and burial was in the family lot at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
