Martin Roseland was born in Kvinnherad Parish, Norway, Europe, Dec. 11, 1866 and died in Minneapolis, Minn., March 5, 1927, age 60 years, 2 months, and 22 days.

Mr. Roseland came to the U. S. A. to Eagle Grove, Iowa, in 1885 and with the exception of being gone for several short periods has made Eagle Grove his home since. He entered the service of the C. & N. W. R. R. Co., April 15, 1889, and remained faithfully in the company’s service for 37 years and 9 months. He was married to Miss Lena Caroline Cragevick Dec. 26, 1894. To this union five children were born. Two have passed away and three are still alive. Mrs. Roseland passed away, May 11, 1922. The three children who now survive their parents are Clifton Roseland, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Jessie Bellows, Humboldt, Iowa; Mrs. Argyle Branaka, LeMars, Iowa; also two grandchildren. He is survived by four brothers: John Roseland of Eagle Grove, Iowa; Ole Roseland of Everett, Wash.; Christopher and Johan Roseland, still in Norway.

Mr. Roseland's health began to fail him last summer. He immediately sought medical aid but no permanent relief could be had. He was still under doctor's care in Minneapolis at the time of his death.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, March 8, from the Foil & Wilson funeral parlors and from the East Side Lutheran church. The remains were laid to rest beside those of his beloved wife in the Rose Hill cemetery.
