24 February 1872 ---- 27 August 1951

George Edward Conner, son of Nathaniel and Cloe [Chloe] Haviland Conner was born February 24, 1872 on a farm in Troy township, Wright county, Iowa and passed away at his home on August 27, 1951 after a lingering illness. Mr. Conner was 79 years, 6 months and 3 days of age at the time of his passing.

He was baptized as a young man in the Troy M. E. church and later in life he transferred his membership to the Eagle Grove Methodist church. His entire life has been spent in this community and he has farmed most of his life in Troy township with the exception of six years in Dayton township. He attended Troy township schools.

On August 4, 1897 he was united in marriage to Emily Knight at Eagle Grove, Iowa and to this union one son, Cecil, was born. They lived on the farm until 13 years ago when they retired and moved to their present home in Eagle Grove, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and two sisters. Mr. Conner being the last of his immediate family. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Emily and one son, Cecil and wife, Marie of Boone, Iowa. Other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. Conner was a friendly man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His life was lived carrying out the thought, "To have a friend one must be a friend."

Odd Fellow Services were conducted by Golden Links Lodge No. 68 on Tuesday evening at Wilson Chapel, and funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Wilson Chapel, with Rev. Harrison G Dawes officiating. Pallbearers for Mr. Conner's service were Ralph Humphreys of Hampton, Joe Tokheim, Bert Wood, Wm Floyd, Donald Frank, and Dr. A. H. Wesselink, all of Eagle Grove. Interment was held on the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove.
