November 16, 1954 ---- June 26, 2018

Robert "Bob" James Hill, 63, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at his home in Northwood, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the Dows United Methodist Church, 101 E Northrup St, Dows, IA 50071 with Reverend Shawn Hill Officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Dows. Per his wishes there will not be a visitation, but the family would like to invite everyone to a gathering following the services in Bob's honor. Memorials may be directed in care of Bob's family.

Born November 16, 1954, in Tacoma, Washington, Bob was the son of Kenneth and Norma Hill. He grew up in Iowa, graduating from the Dows Community School District. In December, 1975, Bob married Jeanette Hunst. To this marriage three children were born: Sara, Amy, and Brandon. He was united in marriage to his best friend, Lori Linnenkamp on February 15, 1992. To this marriage, two daughters were born: Shannon and Rachel.

After graduating with an associate's degree in animal science from Hawkeye Tech, he spent many years farming around the Dows area with his father. He loved working the land and owning his own farm. Later in life, he changed careers. These included becoming an electrician (owner of Bob's Electric), and also an owner operator truck driver.

Bob's internship on a ranch out west during his college years and mountain treks with his brother Jim helped solidify his love for the mountains and nature in general, a trait inherited by his children. He enjoyed spending time fishing, hiking, gardening, hunting, listening to 70's classic rock ballads, and taking trips on his motorcycle. He particularly enjoyed long talks with his little sister Jeanette about anything and everything over the years. He had a curious spirit. His knack for figuring things out delighted his wife as he kept things running on the farm.

He will be remembered fondly for his creative recipes, wicked sense of humor which could light up a room, kind heart, and the deep love he had for his wife and children.

He is survived by his loving wife Lori, and children Sara (Doug) Kinney of Idaho Falls, ID, Amy (JC) Hoyt of Burnsville, MN, Brandon (Jehan) Hill of Idaho Falls, ID, Shannon Hill of Minneapolis, MN, and Rachel Hill of Northwood, IA. He is also survived by his mother Norma (Russell) Hill of Urbandale, IA, brother Jim (Lisa) Hill Bend, OR, sister Jeanette (Mark) Fox, of Clive, IA, five nieces, and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Hill. Conner Colonial Chapel -- Northwood, Iowa
