Wilbur Shoopman funeral Held Tuesday
Wilbur Eugene Shoopman, 48, R. R. 1, Vincent, died February 19, at his home near Vincent. He suffered an apparent heart attack while repairing a TV antenna on the roof of his home. Funeral arrangements were Tuesday, February 22, at 3 pm. at the Church of the Open Bible, Rev. Donald L. Forbes officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Military graveside rites were held by the American Legion Post No. 304. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Shoopman was survived by his wife, Ruby, and children: Terry E. Shoopman, Waterloo, and Michael E. Shoopman, Vincent, one brother, William E. Shoopman of Anderson, Indiana and his mother, Myrtle Shoopman. He was preceded in death by his father, Millard, and two sisters. Mr. Shoopman was born at Atlanta, Ill.. August 2, 1923. He received his education from Burt High School. On March 10, 1944 he was united in marriage to Ruby Nelson at Burt. They farmed in Wisconsin four years, Otho 12 years and had lived in Vincent since 1963. He was a laborer with the A.S.C.S. Bin Crew and served three years in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater and received the Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters. He was a member of the Disabled Veteran's Organization of Fort Dodge and a member of the Open Bible in Eagle Grove.

OBITUARY
Wilbur Eugene Shoopman, son of Millard and Myrtle Ross Shoopman, was born in Atlanta, Ill., August 2, 1923. As a young man he moved with his parents to Burt, Iowa where he attended Burt High School. On March 10, 1944, he was united in marriage to Ruby Nelson of Lone Rock, Iowa at Burt, Iowa. To this union two sons, Terry and Michael, were born. They farmed in Wisconsin four years, Otho, Iowa 12 years and had lived in Vincent since 1963. Wilbur served three years in the U. S. Army during World War II, in the European Theater. He received the Purple Heart with two Oak Leaf Clusters. He was a member of the Church of The Open Bible in Eagle Grove and the Disabled Veteran's Organization of Fort Dodge, Iowa. He had been a laborer with the A.S.C.S. Bin Crew at the time of his death. He hadn't been in good health but his death was unexpected. He died suddenly late Saturday afternoon, February 19, 1972, while fixing the antenna on the roof of his home. He was 48 years, 6 months and 17 days of age at the time of his passing. He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Ruby, and two sons: Terry of Waterloo, and Michael at home, and one brother, William Shoopman of Anderson, Ind.

Funeral services were held 3:00 pm. Tuesday, February 22, 1972 at the church of the Open Bible, Eagle Grove, with Rev. Donald L. Forbes officiating. Interment was held in Rose Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites by Clarence Shurtz American Post 304.
