Melva Jean Cameron, of the Evangelical Free Church Home of Boone, Iowa, died on Friday, September
5, 2003, at the. Boone County Hospital of Boone, at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Robert T. Cameron in 1998. Survivors include her daughter, Pat Mackey, and husband, Gary, Boone; son, Wayne Cameron, and wife, Sandie, Ames, Iowa; five granddaughters and one grandson, Julie Hull, and husband, Joe, Boone, Theresa Mackey, Muncie, Ind., Erin Mackey, Muncie, Ind, Heather Harter, Des Moines, Iowa, Meredith Burkett, and husband, Sam, Iowa City, Iowa, and Joshua Cameron, Ames; four great-grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Aswegan, Waterloo, Iowa; brother, Beryl Manlick, and wife, Charlene, Reinbeck, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

Melva Jean Manlick was born on March 17, 1924, in Reinbeck to Herman and Alma (Zimmerman) Manlick. She was raised north of Grundy Center, Iowa, on a farm. She attended Grundy County Schools. She was married to Robert T. Cameron on June 26, 1942, in Reinbeck. After marriage, they lived in Wright County until 1960, then moved to Ames until 1985, then moved to Eagle Grove until 1999, then moved to Boone where she has resided. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boone, Women's Guild of Trinity, and Trinity's Fellowship Club & Bible Class. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, knitting, spending time with her family, and friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 9, at 10 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone with Reverend Dr. Lindsay Watkins officiating. Burial was held in the Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield, Iowa. Schroeder-Walter Funeral Home of Boone was in charge of arrangements.
