Chas. Kist was born in Germany, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Kist, February 11, 1880, and his parents came to Eagle Grove in 1882 where he grew to manhood and was educated in our public schools.

On September 25, 1902, he was married to Frances Meier [Maier]. To this union were born three sons, who survive him, Leonard, 10 years old; Harold, 8 years, old; and Eugene, 1 years old.

Mr. Kist died Saturday in the Eagle Grove hospital at 4:30 p.m. His death resulted from an accident in the Northwestern Blacksmith shop where he was foreman. The accident occurred at 2 o'clock and his death followed about two hours later. The accident was caused by an explosion with the resulting injury to Mr. Kist.

The deceased owned his home on East State street and had $1000 insurance in the Yeoman and also $1000 in the Knights of Columbus. He was a kind husband and indulgent father, highly esteemed by everyone who knew him. He was an exemplary member of the Catholic church and the funeral was held there Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock.

The services were conducted by Rev. Father Nolan and the interment was in Calvary cemetery. The pall bearers were: Thos. Mulready, Adolph Klinger, John Myers, Thos. Shea, Arthur Deibler and John McCarty.

The bereaved wife and children and relatives have the warm sympathy of the entire city in their great affliction.
