3 October 1844 --- 2 July 1933

Osgood B. Wyman, son of John and Mariah Wyman, was born in Worcester, Mass., October 3, 1844, and died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Clark in Eagle Grove, Iowa, on July 2, 1933, at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 27 days. He enlisted in the Union army when only a boy of 17 and served his country well from 1861 to 1864, when he received an honorable discharge. He was united, in marriage in 1873 with Miss Loretta Coffin of Bradgate, Iowa. To them was born one child who died in infancy.

Mr. Wyman entered the employ of the Northwestern railroad about 1873 which he continued until his retirement at the age of 70. He has been a respected and honored citizen of Eagle Grove for nearly half a century, where, he is still well and favorably known among a large circle of friends.

In 1915 he suffered the loss of his lower right limb through blood poisoning. Even with this handicap he was remarkably cheerful. For the past eight years he has been cared for most tenderly in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Clark, who were old friends and neighbors. In these happy surroundings he has kept his vitality and has maintained his interest in people and events. He leaves in his passing one brother, John Wyman of Miles City, Montana, who attended the funeral, and two nephews, Henry Wyman of Mobridge, S. D., and Harry Wyman of McCook, Neb. His wife having preceded him in death in 1930.

The funeral service was held from the Wilson Chapel Wednesday afternoon, July 5, at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. W. L. Breaw, pastor of the Methodist church, and burial was in Rose Hill cemetery by the side of his wife.
