Funeral services for Mrs. LaVeta Nelson, 71, longtime Humboldt resident, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, at the Lindhardt Funeral Home in Humboldt. Rev. Paul Otto, pastor of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Humboldt, and Mrs. C. C. Hall, second reader of the Fort Dodge Christian Science Church officiated. Internment was in the Indian Mound Cemetery in Humboldt, with the funeral home in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Nelson passed away Monday morning, December 2, at the Lutheran Hospital at Fort Dodge, where she had been a patient for approximately one and one-half weeks. Pallbearers were Peter B. Sorenson, Elvin Collins, Clifford Stevenson, Earl Butterworth, Leo Laing and Rodney Hakeman. Surviving are her husbund, Otis, one son, Ned of Huntington, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Mrs. James Wilhite of Corwith and Mrs. Donna Monroe of Sparks, Nevada, and eight grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, Harold and George Dickson both of Oakland, California, and Royal Dickson of Hayward, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Nelson was born September 7, 1897 to the late Mr. and Mrs. George Dickson. She lived in Fort Dodge and later in Humboldt, where she was employed by the Iowa Public Service Company. In 1921, she married Otis Nelson of Humboldt. The couple has lived in Humboldt ever since their marriage. Mr. Nelson is a retired postmaster of Humboldt.
