WILLIAM AUGUST STEINKE
William August Steinke, 88, a resident of 704 First St., Webster City, died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Allen Hospital in Waterloo. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Parrott-Wood Funeral Home in Waterloo with graveside services at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. He was born Jan. 26, 1888 in Chicago, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Steinke. He was married to Sophia Claude on May 8, 1909 at Webster City. He served as custodian at the First Congregational Church and the West Side library in Waterloo until his retirement in 1958. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1972, following which he moved to Webster City. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Waterloo and the IOOF lodge in Waterloo. Surviving are three sisters: Mrs. Emma Hutchinson and Mrs. A.C. Singer, both of Webster City, and Mrs. Carl Larson of Cedar Falls.
