Lyle Howard Bartlett Jr., 61, of Lehigh, died Thursday, September 10, 2015. Services will be 1:30 PM Monday, September 14, 2015 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard Laird officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

He is survived by his son, Quint William Bartlett of Des Moines and his daughter, Stacy (Bret) Mentzer of Lehigh; two granddaughters, Karrigan and Jillian Mentzer both of Lehigh; a sister, Rebecca Ann Brown (Orval Kinne) of Fort Dodge; and many nieces and nephews. Lyle is preceded in death by his wife and his parents.

Lyle Howard Bartlett Jr., the son of Lyle and Ruth (Schell) Bartlett, was born May 22, 1954, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1972, he graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High and he then attended Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, Illinois. On June 1, 1985, Lyle was united in marriage to Linda Faye Nowell. After their marriage the couple made Lehigh their home. Linda passed away on September 18, 2001.

Lyle was enjoying his retirement. He loved riding his Harleys and he lived for the outdoors. Lyle spent much of his time hunting and fishing. He was a member of the NRA and the Fort Dodge Rifle and Pistol Club.

WEBSTER COUNTY, Iowa — A Lehigh man was killed Thursday after his vehicle was broadsided. The accident happened just before 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Union Avenue and 270th Street in Webster County, northeast of Lehigh. Troopers say 61-year-old Lyle Bartlett stopped at the stop sign then proceeded into the intersection where he was broadsided by an oncoming truck. Bartlett was transported to the hospital where he later died.

[Lyle was a former resident of Goldfield, Iowa and attended grade school in Goldfield. His father was Rev. Lyle Bartlett, minister of the Goldfield Church of Christ]
