Funeral services for Mr. A. O. Swasand, president of the Farmers Savings Bank of Vincent, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the South Enes Lutheran church, Vincent, The Rev. G. O. Wangberg, of Duncombe, pastor of the Church officiated. Interment was in Newark Township Cemetery, Vincent.

Mr. Swasand, 65, a lifelong resident of Vincent and a banker there for 38 years, died early Monday morning at his home. Death was attributed to cancer. He had been in ill health several months. Mr. Swasand was born at Vincent and attended schools there. He later graduated from Waldorf Junior College, Forest City and attended the State College of Iowa at Cedar Falls. In September, 1922, Mr. Swasand married Beatrice Hammersland at Clear Lake, and the couple moved to Vincent to make their home. He owned and operated a general store there for three years, and became associated with the Farmers Savings Bank in 1925. Mr. Swasand was a member of the Webster County Bankers Association, and in addition to holding several offices in the association, he served as president for two terms. He was a member of various Masonic Orders, and of the Za-Zig Temple in Des Moines. He was a lifelong member of South Enes Lutheran Church in Vincent, served as church treasurer for 35 years, served on the board of Youth Camps, and was Vincent town treasurer for 30 years. Mr. Swasand was also Newark Township Red Cross Chairman for many years.

Surviving Mr. Swasand are his widow, Beatrice, a daughter, Mrs. W. E. Quist of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; two sons, Thomas P. and Roger A., both of Vincent; and four grandchildren. Other survivors include three brothers, Theodore and Delmar Swasand of Eldora, Edward of Alton; and four sisters, Mrs. E. F. Peterson of Humboldt, Mrs. Edwin Stone of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. H. W. Turner of Vincent and Mrs. Roger Herr of Dallas Center.
