Belle Sofia Hanson, the daughter of John and Martha [Larson] Hanson, was born Nov. 25, 1898, at Vincent in Webster County, Iowa and departed this life at Good Samaritan Center in Estherville, Iowa, on Tues., Nov. 20, 1979, at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 25 days. She received her education in Webster, Dickinson and Emmet County and at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. She was employed at Sorenson Photography and Shadles Dry Goods Store in Estherville before her marriage. On Feb. 19, 1925, she was united in marriage to John Quastad at Wallingford, Iowa. The couple farmed southeast of Estherville. Mr. Quastad died in Mar. 1969. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, the A.L.C.W. and was active in church activities.
Mrs. Quastad is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Donna) Herum of Estherville, Mrs. Gene (Joan) O'Brien of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. David (Marlys) Landmesser of Fontana, California, and Mrs. L. G. (Janet) Doolen of Denver, Colorado; two sons, Omer and Donald, both of Estherville; 25 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three sisters, Tilla Hanson of Estherville, Mrs. Stanley (Genevieve) Richey of Manly, Iowa, and Mrs. Edward (Leora) Anderson of Estherville; and four brothers, Ernest, Laurence, Melvin, and Lester Hanson, all of Estherville. She has been preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two brothers, and a grandson. Services will be concluded at Swan Lake Cemetery. BLESSED BE HER MEMORY
