Ansgar Aagesen was born February 14, 1938, in Bergen, Norway, to Anar and Jenny (Otteros) Aagesen. He received a formal education in Norway before moving to the United States at age 18 with his aunt and uncle, Elsie and Alfred Otteros, where they lived and worked on a farm near Williams. After moving to Eagle Grove, he worked for Glynn Construction in Fort Dodge, Erickson Manufacturing Company, A. J. Construction of Eagle Grove and was currently working for John Korslund. He received his United States Citizenship on June 26, 1989. He was a member of the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.
Ansgar Aagesen died on Thursday, August 8, 1996, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion at the age of 58 years, 5 months, and 25 days. Survivors include his wife, Judy, two daughters, Candy Stubbs and husband, Richard, Clarion, and Connie May and husband, Toby, Des Moines; one son, Kirby Aagesen and wife, Pam, Ankeny; four grandchildren; an aunt, Elsie Otteros, Williams; and other relatives in Norway. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 12, 1996, at 10:30 a.m. at the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
