VIOLA LIVINGSTONE HUGHES
Viola Ann Underberg was born November 2, 1904, in Mount Caramel, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas and
Katherine Underberg. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Milford. She married Guy Livingstone, July 10, 1923 at Milford. Mr. Livingstone farmed, and later moved to town, where he was an insurance agent. After Mr. Livingstone's death, Viola married Dr. C. T. Hughes, September 19, 1968. They lived in Mount Caramel, Milford, and spent winter months in Holmes Beach, Fla. She was a member of St. Ann's Circle, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Milford Auxiliary.

Viola Ann Livingstone Hughes died March 25, 1989, at the Milford Care Center in Milford, at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sisters, Laura Golwitzer, Luverna Schulte; Antionette Wanninger; Bernadette Giese; and Lavina Casey; brothers, Clarence Underberg and Charles Underberg. She is survived by sisters, Martha Baschke, Milford; Margaret Irlbeck, Manning; and Hilda Stangel, Carroll; and a brother, Nick Underberg, Eagle Grove; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milford, March 29, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. R. R. Remmes officiating. Interment was in Calvary Catholic Cemetery at Milford. The Turner Funeral Home of Milford was in charge of arrangements.
