IRENE EMMA SCHUTT
Irene Emma Decker was born September 1, 1913, the daughter of Theodore and Regina Werner Decker in
St. Louis, Mo. She received her education in St. Louis. She was employed by the Superior Electric Company in St. Louis at the age of 14, and was employed by them until her marriage to Herbert C. Schutt of Woolstock on March 28, 1939 at St. Louis. The young couple moved to their present farm home, northeast of Woolstock, after their marriage. Mrs. Schutt was a member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Woolstock. She was a widely known quilter and served on the Woolstock Centennial Quilt committee in 1980, making the Centennial Quilt. In 1983, she made the quilt for the National Puppeteers Convention held in California. A picture of this quilt appears in the book entitled, "America's Pictorial Quilts."

Mrs. Schutt had suffered from a brain tumor for the past year, and died at her home on Sunday, March 26, at the age of 75 years, six months, and 28 days. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister; a grandson, Steven Eide; and a great-grandson, David Long. She is survived by her husband, Herbert; a son, Raymond, Woolstock; one daughter, Phyllis Eide, Fort Dodge; five sisters, Leona Decker, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Chester (Ruth) Fish, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Walter (Nora) Otto, Branson, Mo.; Ellen Bradvogel, Carlinville, 111.; and Mrs. Charles (Edna) Schutt, Blairsburg; four grandchildren, Russell Eide, Stanhope; Jolene Long, Webster City; Pamela Wagner, and Patti Schutt, both of Woolstock; and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 29 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Woolstock. The Rev. Mark Buchhop, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Webster City, officiated., and burial was in the French Cemetery, Woolstock. Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was charge of arrangements.
