James E. Mariga, 88, died February 23, 2018 at his apartment in Belmond. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Ewing Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Jim graduated from Belmond High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Roswell, NM. After his military service, Jim worked for Pepperidge Farm. He returned to Belmond upon retirement. Jim was an avid bridge player and had a life master designation.

He is survived by his sister Barbara Schiek; niece Mary Jo (Scott) Youngberg and their children Heather, Justin and Mandy; John Popowitz (Patty, deceased) and daughter Kaelyn.
