Roland Duane Pals of Duncanville, Texas, age 88, passed away on January 26, 2018. He was born on August 5, 1929 in Belmond, Iowa and graduated in 1946 from Belmond High school. Roland was inducted into the Army to serve in the Korean War in 1951. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart for his military service. He met his wife, Shirley Greiman, on the dance floor of "The Surf Ballroom" in Clear Lake, Iowa. They married in July 1960. Roland and Shirley had four daughters and moved their home from Manchester, Iowa to Duncanville, Texas in 1971. Roland was a loving husband and father. He was an avid golfer and devoted Duncanville High School sports fan, particularly the Pantherettes. Roland was honored with a lifetime achievement award for being one of the most loyal fans of the Pantherette basketball team. He was a member of First Christian Church Duncanville for 45 years.

Roland is survived by his four daughters and their families. Lisa Young (Stuart), Becky Withrow (Kelly), Amy Climer (Guido), and Tracey Pals (Michael Woram). He had five grandchildren, Emma Young, Reagan Withrow, Kendall Withrow, Samuel Climer and Nathan Climer. He is also survived by his brother Arlen and his wife Shirley Pals, his cousin Dean Pals, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Rena Pals, his sister, Evelyn Gaetzke, and his brother, Roger Pals.

Visitation is 6-8 pm, Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Jaynes Memorial Chapel. Memorial services are 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 31 at First Christian Church Duncanville, 203 S. Main Street, Duncanville, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219.
