Oscar Nelson, 62, died suddenly at his Eagle Grove home Tuesday morning, Oct. 23rd. Services were held at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church, Kenneth R. Torvik, pastor, Friday at 2 o'clock with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Oscar Nelson was born Sept 19, 1900 at Thompson to Christian and Carrie Dahle Nelson. On April 1, 1929 he married Irene Hagenson of Thompson. They farmed in Bode and Thor areas until 1954 when they moved to Eagle Grove where he worked for Boone Valley Processing Association. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; by a brother, Gilbert and three sisters: Anna, Mrs. Tom Slade; Gina, Mrs. Hans Ellefson and Minnie, Mrs. Chris Jensen. He is survived by his wife, Irene and by eight children: Ardis, Mrs. Dean Anthony of Culver City, Calif ; Cecil of Ft. Dodge; Beverly, Mrs. Harold Kelling of Marshalltown; Carol, Mrs. Don Williamson of Tucson, Ariz.; Gladys, Mrs. Maurice Riley of Clarion; Robert, Mary Ann and David, all of Eagle Grove. Also surviving are two brothers, Andrew of Thompson and Nels of Albert Lea, Minn.; and two sisters: Ida, Mrs. Severt Nelson of Bode and Mrs. Clara Manns of Jamestown, N.D.
