Robert Dean Kist, the son of Eugene and Estaline (Smith) Kist, was born on September 27, 1941, in Hardin County, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth. Bob served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1972.

On May 28, 1966, Bob was united in marriage with Karen Widmann in Webster City. The couple made their home and raised their three children in Webster City and Eagle Grove. Karen preceded him in death on August 5, 2011. Bob worked for Kist Ready Mix, was a farm hand for John O. Larson for many years, Boone Valley Coop/Farmland, Premium Pig, Ryerson Associates and B&K Redemption until retiring. Bob enjoyed family, friends, cards, golf and BINGO at the Casino.

Bob passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 76 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents; great-grandchild; brother, Donald Kist and sister, Mary Lou Johnson. Survivors include his children: Teresa Choate of Webster City. Terry Kist and wife Lisa of Eagle Grove and Jill Bernsmeier of West Des Moines; seven grandchildren: Brad Mrla, Josh Mrla, Brittany Bernsmeier, Brody Almond, Kylee Almond, Samantha Jo Kist and Cooper Kist; three great-grandchildren: Macy Parrott, Landon and Brylee Mrla; siblings: Jerry Kist and wife Joan of Vincent, Ronnie Kist and wife Janis of Dardanelle, AR, Rick Kist and wife Cam of Wausau, WI and Diane Gates and husband Dan of Ankeny and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation is Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. The family invites you to join them, following the visitation, at The Depot - Rails Bar & Grill for a time of food and sharing more memories of Bob.
Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family.
