Donald E. Thul, Jr. was born on August 17, 1950 the son of Donald Casey and Elizabeth Ann (Wagner) Thul at Fort Dodge, Iowa. He attended schools in Minburn and Perry before moving with his family to Eagle Grove. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1969. He worked for Wilson Produce for a short time prior to 23 years of employment in the feed plant of Farmland Industries in Eagle Grove.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove.

Donald E. Thul, Jr. died at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City on Saturday, December 17, 1994 following an extended illness. He had attained to age of 44 years and 4 months.

He is survived by his father, Donald Casey Thul and step-mother, Lois J., Eagle Grove; two brothers, Larry Thul and wife, Verla, Thor, and Mike Thul, Eagle Grove; three sisters, Marlena Tomlinson, Eagle Grove; Carol Messerly and husband, Paul, Fort Dodge, and LuAnn Billingsley, also of Fort Dodge; step-brothers, Kent Dean and wife, Valerie, Blair, Nebraska, and Kelly Dean and wife, Julie, Eagle Grove; seven nephews and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Thul, on August 15, 1968; infant brother, Alan Thul; and both sets of grandparents.

Funeral services for Donald E. Thul, Jr. were held on Tuesday, December 20, 1994 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. The Reverend Wayne Droessler officiated the 10:30 a.m. Mass of Resurrection and burial was held in Calvary Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
