Lorrie L. Wallentine, 58, passed away December 30, 2017. Lorrie was born in Dubuque, Iowa, to Art and Helen (Sunner) Chapman. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School where she excelled in sports, band, Student Council, and National Honor Society. Lorrie graduated from Northern Iowa Area Community College as an Optometric Assistant. In 1981, she married her high school sweetheart, Bob Wallentine. Together, they lived in Colorado and Iowa before settling in Wichita, KS in 1983. She worked in Optometric Software Customer Support, Oil and Gas Accounting, and started her own daycare company to ensure her boys were getting the best care possible. While the boys were young, she volunteered to teach Religious Education at St. Elizabeth Anne Seaton where she led fundraising efforts with her classes to support kids going through pediatric oncology treatments. The positive experience she had teaching Religious Education led Lorrie back to school and in 2005 she earned a Bachelor of Education degree from Newman University. Since graduation, Lorrie has been working at Northwest High, USD 259, in the Social Studies Department where she loved the students and faculty. She especially loved grading DBQs!! Lorrie also spent time working at Judge Riddel Boys Ranch and mentored kids through the KANSEL program that were unable to physically attend school.

She enjoyed fishing, camping, skiing and spending time with her family. Lorrie was a great and loving wife, mother, and friend who was always there to offer support, encouragement, and guidance to all in her life. Lorrie is survived by her husband, Bob; sons, Jake (Kylee) and Josh (Maddie); parents, Art and Mary (Garbier) Chapman, Helen Sunner (Chapman), Bob and Ann Wallentine; brothers, Dave (Angie), Chris (Rosita) Chapman, and Jeff Wallentine; sisters, Beth (Chad) Sheiner, Lisa (Dean) Wendell; nephews and nieces, Rita, Peter, Jon, Alex, Sam, Roman, Monty, Evie as well as many other relatives and great friends.
