Services Thursday For Mrs. C. Johnson
Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Johnson, 36, will be conducted Thursday at 2 p. m. at the Samuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. B. F. Molstre, Fort Dodge officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery with the Sandvig Funeral Home in Eagle Grove in charge. According to the coroner death was self inflicted. She died at her home east of Eagle Grove. The former Norma Lee Hamer, Mrs. Johnson was born and reared at Eagle Grove. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School and Eagle Grove Junior College and taught in the Goldfield School. In 1949 she married Charles Johnson at Eagle Grove. She had been active in various organizations. She was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband and five children, Rebecca, Ramona, Linda, Beth and Michael; her mother, Mrs. Maurice Hamer of Eagle Grove; two brothers and three sisters, Howard Hamer of Stewartville, Minn.; Marvin Hamer of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Floyd Kubly of Riceville, Mrs. George Murphy of Auburn, Ala.; and Mrs. Arvid Bauman of Decorah.Wright County Monitor -- Clarion, Iowa

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) for Mrs. Charles (Norma) Johnson, 36, of Eagle Grove who was found dead in her farm home Monday morning, Mar. 28. Her death has been termed a "probable suicide" by Dr. George Hogenson, deputy county medical examiner, but he added that "accidental death has not been ruled out." According to the sheriff's office Mrs. Johnson was found by her husband about 10 am lying at the foot of the stairs leading to the second floor of the house. One end of a vacuum sweeper cord was wrapped around her neck and the center of the cord was looped around a guard rail above. The Johnsons' four daughters were in school at the time. A pre-school age son was home. Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of Mrs. Lea Hamer and the late Morris Hamer of Eagle Grove. She was graduated from the Eagle Grove High School in 1947. She attended Eagle Grove Junior College and received a teacher's certificate from State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. She taught in the Goldfield Schools prior to her marriage to Charles Johnson on Nov. 6, 1949. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. today at the Samuel Lutheran church with Rev. B. F. Molstre in charge. Burial will he in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, four daughters, Rebekah Jo, 13, Ramona Lynn, 11, Linda Lee, 9, Beth Ann, 6 and one son, Michael Charles, 2. Also surviving are her mother, two brothers, Marvin Hamer of Eagle Grove and Howard Hamer of Stewartville, Minn., and three sisters, Mrs. Floyd Kubly of Riceville, Mrs. George Murphy of Auburn, Ala. and Mrs. Arvid Bauman of Decorah.Eagle Grove Eagle -- Eagle Grove, Iowa
