DOROTHY MARIE POLEN ELKIN
Dorothy Marie Polen was born March 28, 1922, in Sheffield, Iowa, to Benjamin Franklin and Martha Ellen Poland Polen. She graduated from Genieva, Iowa, High School. She was united in marriage to Homer Womack in 1943 until he died. She made her home since 1966 with Grigg Elkin in Eagle Grove, Iowa. They wintered in Brownsville, Texas, for the last 23 years.

Dorothy Marie Polen Elkin died on Monday, January 4, 1999, in Brownsville, Texas, at the age of 76. Survivors include her husband, Grigg Elkin, Eagle Grove; one son, Roger Womack and wife, Paula, Illinois City, Ill.; two daughters, Darlene Lindner and husband, Richard, Algona, Iowa, and Janice Lindner and husband, Thomas, Fremont, Neb.; four step-children, Mary "Cookie" Thomas, Clarion, David Elkin, Egan, Minn., Ron Elkin, Tulsa, Okla., and Colleen Van Langen, Grand Island, Neb.; 23 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Foughty, Athol, Idaho; and one brother, Harry Polen, Montezuma, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Homer Womack; two brothers, James and Byron; and by Flo Edith "Sally," and Theresa.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 9, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove with Reverend Eldon Jandebeur officiating. Burial was held at the Hampton Cemetery, Hampton, Iowa. Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
