Alvin W. Anderson was born on a farm near Clarion on September 7, 1923. He was the son of Charles and Anna Thompson Anderson. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Mae Reed on March 30, 1944, at the Lutheran Church in Clarion. They have farmed in Wright County for 50 years. He was a member of the Park Church of Christ in Goldfield and served as a deacon and on the church board.

Alvin W. Anderson, 70, Clarion, died at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion, Wednesday evening, March 23, 1994, after an eight-month battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant daughter, Eileen. Survivors include his wife; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Rita Anderson, Clarion, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gary Nordling of Sioux Falls, S. D., and daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Douglas Enyart of Monroe; six grandchildren, Crystal, Nadene, Colleen, Gregory, Scott and Addrea; three great grandchildren, Anthony, Courtney and Ryan; four brothers and seven sisters, George of Goldfield, Julie Swenson of Belmond, Gladys Spainhower, Betty Delger and Charles, all of Clarion, Mildred Smith, Belmond, Norville, Clarion, Ruth Lamfers, Salina, Kan., Helen Busick, Clarion, Arlene Smith, St. Cloud, Minn., and Roger of Independence and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 26, at 11 a.m. from the Park Church of Christ. Dale Knowles of Dumont officiated and burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Clarion. The Willim Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
