Jay A. Norem was born July 19, 1921 and raised in the Thor area. He graduated from Thor High School and the University of Iowa. He was united in marriage to Thelma Lonning on July l9, 1945. Jay Norem of Houston, Texas, died September 30, 1992 at the age of 71 of cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, and four brothers. He is survived by his wife; sons, Jay, Jr. of London, England; and Jeffrey of Atlanta, Ga.; and sister, Ione Ekstrom of Eagle Grove. Inurnment will be at East Ullensvang Cemetery near Thor in the near future with family graveside service. Other Eagle Grove relatives are his mother-in-law, Serena Borge and sister-in-law, Clara Bosworth.
