Ruth L. Coulson was born August 23, 1905, to Robert and Estella Bentley Coulson at Blue Earth, Minn. She attended schools in Webster City, Iowa. On February 19, 1931, she was united in marriage to Emile "Bill" Malaise at the Church of Christ Parsonage in Webster City. They farmed north of Woolstock until they retired and then moved to the Vincent area and resided there until her husband died. She then moved to Woolstock and lived there until she entered the Southfield Care Center in September of 1993. She was a member of the Woolstock Legion Auxiliary.

Ruth L. Malaise died Wednesday, November 12, 1997, at the Southfield Care Center in Webster City at the age of 92. Survivors include four sons, Richard Malaise, and wife, Beverly, Burleson, Texas, Clifford Malaise, and wife, Ardyth, Woolstock, Kenneth Malaise, and wife, Pat, Webster City, and Tom Malaise, and wife, Sandy, Woolstock; seven daughters, Annaica Hassebrock, and husband, Kendall, Jewell, Frances Shroyer, and husband, Phil, Fort Dodge, Rosemary Arnold, and husband, Glen, Humeston, Pauline Collins, and husband, LeRoy, Kalo, Ellen Joyce Harvey and husband, Roger, Badger, Darlene Friesleben and husband, Harvey, Goldfield, and, Marlene Leeper and husband, Roy, Webster City; 28 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Shirley Marker; one great grandson, Brandon Collins; a sister, Edith Segar; and two brothers, Dick and Don Coulson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 15, 1997, at 2 p.m. at the United Mediodist Church in Woolstock with the Reverend Gerald Caquelin officiating. Burial was in the French Cemetery near Woolstock. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
