ELSIE ELIZABETH YOUNG
Elsie Elizabeth Hautala was born February 2, 1919, to Jacob and Liisa Vehamaki Hautala at Chisholm, Minn. She graduated from Chisholm High School in 1937 and the University of Minnesota in 1942 with her B. S. Degree. On March 8, 1943, she was united in marriage to William "Pat" Young, Jr., at St. Louis, Mo. She has lived in Eagle Grove most of her married life and was a teacher in Goldfield for many years. She was also a substitute teacher in Eagle Grove. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Alpha Delta Kappa, and a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi.

Elsie Elizabeth Young died Monday, November 10, 1997, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 78. Survivors includes her daughter, Katherine Myers, Eagle Grove; one grandson, Tony Olson, and wife, Michelle, Eagle Grove; one granddaughter, Wendy Olson, Eagle Grove; one sister, Katherine Thorhaven, Renton, Wash.; two nieces; and one sister-in-law, Lillian Hautala, Hibbing, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pat, in 1988; one son, Michael James Young in 1976; and one sister and three brothers.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 12, 1997, at 10 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove with the Reverend Julia Rendon officiating. Burial was in die Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
