Paul Bennett Stearns, the son of Frank and Mae Hosier Stearns, was born on Jan. 20, 1919, at Rolfe. He grew up in the Rolfe-Plover area and received his education at Rolfe-Plover schools. During World War II, Paul served in the U.S Navy. In 1949, he was married to Marlys Green in Minnesota The family lived in northwest Iowa for many years For the past 15 years, Paul has lived in Goldfield and was employed at the Moorman's Company plant near Goldfield until he retired. He was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Goldfield and served on the Board of Trustees.

He died Saturday evening, Sept 1, 1984, at Fort Dodge, Iowa, after becoming ill while attending a wedding dance for a niece. He attained the age of 65 years, seven months and 11 days.

He is survived by five daughters and two sons, Paul B. Stearns of Rose Hill, Kans.; James A. Stearns of Austin, Texas; Mary Lou (Mrs. Jerry) Stearns-Bussey of Waterloo; S. Jodi Stearns of Cedar Falls; Sharon Lee (Mrs. George) Hopper of Spencer, Okla.; Christine (Mrs. Robert) Bergquist of Eagle Grove and Sally Ann Stearns of Goldfield; seven grandchildren; two brothers and nine sisters: Eunice (Mrs. Clyde) Maulsby of Plover; Florence (Mrs. Herbert) Dickinson of Coon Rapids, Minn.; June (Mrs. Clarence) Hotovec of Albuquerque, N.M.; Betty (Mrs. L. W.) Sease of Albuquerque, N.M ; Cornelia (Mrs. George) Kraft of Goldfield; Dorcas (Mrs. John) Brazier of Clarion; Rachel (Mrs. Harold) Freeman of Des Moines; Joy (Mrs. Earl) Sorensen of Goldfield and Mrs. Jackie Macek of Fort Dodge; Clarence Stearns of Bradgate and Frank Stearns of Gilmore City. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Donna May Stearns, and a daughter, Beverly (Mrs. Dennis) O'Donnell, who died on Aug. 13, 1984.

Funeral services for Paul B. Stearns, 65, of Goldfield, were held on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 1984 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Goldfield. Rev. Ken Peterson, church pastor, officiated and burial was in the Summit Hill Cemetery at Pocahontas. Visitation was held on Tuesday at the Kastler Babcock Funeral Home.
