Richard Karl Kerch, the son of Karl Otto and Ida Gardina (Peil) Kerch, was born on September 21, 1931, at their home 10 miles north of Holmes, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth. Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

On February 25, 1962, Richard was united in marriage with Judy Bohonek at Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor. Richard enjoyed his life, being involved in farming, horses, the Wright County Fair and working for Ken Stoakes as his hired man for 12 years. He also liked carpentry, John Wayne movies and all animals.

Richard was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove American Legion and he served on the Wright County Fair Board for 9 years.

Richard died on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 86 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold and Bill and sister, Louise. Richard is survived by his wife of 54 years Judy Kerch of Eagle Grove; son Jeff Kerch (Lindsay) of Goldfield; daughter, Rhonda Kerch (Rafe Waddell) of Belmond; grandchildren, Clayton and Karly Kerch and nephews, Jim Kerch (Linda) of Bettendorf and Mike Kerch of Minneapolis, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017, 1:30 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Darryl Landsverk officiating. Visitation is Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
