Funeral This Afternoon For Mrs. G. A. Hinkley

Funeral services will he held this (Thursday) afternoon for Mrs. G. A. Hinkley, 88, who died Monday night at 9:25 pm, at Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge. Services will be at 2 p.m. in the First Methodist church in charge of the pastor Rev. Bernard Olson and Rev Clarence Tompkins, a former pastor here, now director of Friendship Haven, and a close friend of the Hinkleys. Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Hinkley's health began to fail in 1962, and that year with Mr. Hinkley moved to Friendship
Haven where they had a suite in the West Building. However, due to her health she was not able to spend much time in the suite, and was confined in the infirmary where she had been bedfast and under constant care for many months.

She is survived by her husband, two daughters Mrs. E. C. Johnson and Mrs. Burdette Middleton and one son David Hinkley of Carmel, Calif. Other survivors are one sister Mrs. Ernest Heinemann of Sumner, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hinkley, the former Olive Blanche Baxter, was horn in Fredricka, Iowa, Dec. 21, 1876. She was married to Guy A. Hinkley, May 1, 1901 and to this union four children were born, Lucille, Mrs. E. C. Johnson, Burton who died in infancy, and twins Dorothy, Mrs. Burdette Middleton, and David. Following their marriage they made their home in Nashua until March of 1913 when they moved to Eagle Grove when Mr. Hinkley opened the Leuthold-Hinkley clothing store.

Mrs. Hinkley was a member of the Methodist church, was a fifty year member of the Order of Eastern Star and the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She was active until she moved from the city, in the Woman's Club and the Equality Club. For many years she was a member of the W.C.T.U and was a charter member of the Alpha Delphians. During the later years when Mr. Hinkley was in business here, Mrs. Hinkley also became active in the store and for many years met and served customers. She had a wide acquaintance in the community, and derived much pleasure in being able to meet and greet her friends in the store. Mrs. Hinkley opened her home on South Cadwell for years to church and club gatherings, and former residents in the community who had moved away were always welcome to make their headquarters at "Hinkleys" when they came back to town, and enjoy the gracious hospitality of "Auntie Hink."
